I Should Be So Lucky // Richard Downes
I should be so lucky
As to cast my eye
On a hidden four leaf clover
I should be so lucky
As to take my steps
Further from Trinity 3
I should be so lucky
As to find my Love
Lying down beside me
I should be so lucky
As to stumble on
A £5 note when needed
I should be so lucky
As to imbibe your
Helpful, healthful juices
And I should be so lucky
As to find myself known
In your lush green field
But what if my clover wish
For luck should ever befall
Who then would I be?
Would I feel more loved
Than how I’m feeling now
With dew on my toes?
Would I have more wealth
Than what I’m holding now
With the sun above?
Would I have more health
Than this fresh air can give
On a silent day
Would I need more fame
Than be appreciated
By Magical Women?
I should be so lucky
Lucky, lucky, lucky
I have been so lucky in love

These are response collaborations.
Magical Women facilitate opportunities for artists and poets to respond to each other:
One with words, the other with art or photography.
You do not have to communicate with the other artist or poet at all:
We take the risk and fear of social communication/interaction away.
We choose an artist’s artwork or photograph and reach out to a MW writer to respond through poetry.
All poets and artists are paid £6.00 for their work and retain copyright.
We only ask for a mention where it was first published (here) and that you include a link to the page.
If you’re interested in a similar collaboration, get in touch with us!
info@magicalwomen.co.uk we look forward to hearing from you!
