How Can I Join in?

 How Can You Join in?

We have had many emails from new artists asking how you/they can either join Magical Women or experience events and activities with us. We are not an organisation so there is no need to sign up or register. The best way to connect with Magical Women’s network of artists is by attending our events and joining the facebook group.

The team here is a very small collective of artists led by Elinor Rowlands. We do invite contributors but usually take the events and workshops to get to know them unless we put out a callout for a specific project. We are between funding at the moment but there are still a few things going on so do keep an eye on Facebook and the website, and perhaps also join up for our newsletter.

Right now, Magical Women has had to take a break from running regular workshops. However, we still offer opportunities for collaboration, for writing and for exchanging of ideas and sharing posts about your art practice and work. We also offer ad hoc workshops and events.

Who are we?

Magical Women’s aim is to continue to build, shape and create a platform where ND artists can attend to their practice without fear of the risk found in Neurotypical and Mainstream systems, structures and environments.

Who might we not be for?

In our first year running, Magical Women experienced a few artists who expected us to be at their beck and call as a charity or a funded service might be. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity, the funding or staff to meet those expectations. We are autistic, ADHD and disabled. We have the same barriers that you do. Elinor uses Access to Work funding to be able to run Magical Women, which is part of her artistic practice. If you need this same support to attend to your art practice, we recommend you also apply for Access to Work too. Magical Women can help, but at a fee, as we are not funded to offer free mentoring or free access support. When we have funding, we do offer accessible and reduced cost workshops with access support. We can not run workshops like this without funding.

Why is generosity important when working with us?

We are a collaborative ND led model, shaped by our artists. If you don’t come to Magical Women with the openness and generosity we require to be able to run and platform Neurodivergent artists, then this platform is probably not the right platform for you.

For this reason, we have outlined what we can offer at reduced cost vs what we must offer for a cost here.
